The Dolores County Board of County Commissioners appointed Nolan Henkins to the Dolores County Public Library Board during its March 16, 2026 meeting, the chair said.
A letter from the Dolores County Public Library Board, read aloud by the chair, said the board voted to recommend Henkins to fill the vacancy created by the passing of longtime member Caroline McCustin. The letter said Henkins submitted a letter of intent, interviewed with board members and “is enthusiastic and will bring some perspective and ideas from the younger generation in our community,” language read at the meeting by the chair.
Commissioner Element moved to accept Nolan Henkins to the Dolores County Public Library Board; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously. The commissioners recorded three affirmative votes for the appointment. No amendments or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The board approved routine business earlier in the session, including expenditures and minutes for previous meetings, and recessed to convene as the Board of Health at 9:30 a.m., the chair said. The county has not announced a date for Henkins’s formal swearing-in.
The appointment fills a seat left vacant by Caroline McCustin, who was identified in the library board’s letter as a longtime board member.
