Kendall County will not appeal FEMA denial covering autopsy and straight‑time costs from July flood

Staff reviewed precedent and found at least one prior similar appeal for autopsy costs had been denied after two appeals and had taken roughly two years to resolve. Given the precedent, the time required for appeals and the risk of denial, staff recommended that the county accept the eligible FEMA reimbursements and not pursue further appeal.
The court voted 5‑0 not to appeal FEMA’s denial and directed staff to begin closeout steps for the eligible reimbursable projects.
