Dolores County OKs permit for June Freedom Truck and Car Show

The Glorious 10 Board of Commission on Feb. 7 approved a permit for the Freedom Truck and Car Show, scheduled for June 27, after organizers described modest changes to the event and safety plans.
Kendra, who presented the event plan, said the entry fee was raised from $5 to $10 “to cover some more expenses” including insurance and that proceeds from the public-favorite drawing are donated each year to a local charity. She told commissioners that vehicle turnout last year was about 50–54 registered vehicles and that volunteers handle cleanup and onsite logistics.
Organizers plan to include a band and a small number of licensed food vendors; Kendra said relying on the park’s electricity will reduce the need for generators for the band. Commissioners asked about signage and placement of digital signs; Kendra said they will be located to avoid safety problems.
A commissioner moved to approve the permit; another seconded the motion and commissioners voted in favor. The permit was approved without recorded conditions.
The county said the event has historically been a daytime, family-oriented gathering with volunteer cleanup and periodic donations to local nonprofits. Commissioners requested an update from Steve (organizer contact) ahead of the July schedule and asked that any changes be reported to staff.
