Pasadena ISD approves agreement with Memorial Hermann to expand school-based clinics

The Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees approved an agreement Jan. 24 authorizing Memorial Hermann Community Benefit Corporation to facilitate and operate more on-campus health clinics serving students at specified Pasadena ISD campuses.
Trustee Miss Sullivan asked for clarification because Exhibit A (the list of participating campuses) was not included in the meeting book. A district representative explained the initial sites will remain Cruz and Matthews (referred to as the Wave and Cruz clinics), and Memorial Hermann will add schools if appointment slots show gaps; the clinics can serve students in feeder patterns and may rotate dental and mental-health services.
District staff said the clinics are grant-funded, provide no-cost care for uninsured children and include on-site pharmacies at some locations. “They’re grant-funded so there are no co-pays,” a district representative explained, and nurses maintain consent records in Skyward for clinic care and referrals.
Trustees asked whether there is a cap on patients; staff said there is no fixed cap and Memorial Hermann adds providers as needed. The board approved the agreement by motion of Mr. Fernandez, second by Miss Sullivan.
What’s next: The district will provide the list of participating campuses (Exhibit A) and continue coordinating referrals, consent and clinic scheduling with Memorial Hermann.
