The county attorney addressed commissioners about recommendations from the compensation board concerning elected-official pay. The compensation board recommended a 3% pay increase for elected officials plus a flat $3,000 addition, the attorney said.
The attorney told the board he would accept the 3% increase but would "wave off that additional $3,000" for himself and asked that if the $3,000 is approved he would like that amount split evenly among five staff members: Hannah, Russell, Colton, Sam and Katrina. He said he did not believe the compensation board recommendation to be binding but asked the commission to confirm the authority’s action.
Commissioners said they would check whether the compensation board’s recommendations are binding and noted that the item appears on the next meeting agenda for formal action. No change was adopted during the work session.
