Kristen Brady of Dallas County EMS briefed the board on April operations, training and billing work. The department logged 238 calls for service in April, including 26 transfers out of Dallas County Hospital and 88 transfers from January through April. Kristen said 203 calls were in incorporated areas and 35 were in unincorporated areas, with seven calls to Granger.
She described a countywide mass-casualty training exercise that involved roughly 50 participants and took two-and-a-half to three hours; volunteers from public health acted as simulated patients. "It was really successful training...we did roughly 30 patients or so," she said, noting the exercise tested triage, radio communications and interagency coordination.
On billing and collections, Kristen said staff are defining workload to prepare an RFP or consider bringing collections in-house; the county's new billing company, PCC, is assisting and staff will invite the company to present to supervisors. Kristen said the department's GMT application was approved and that she will provide the board with a written courtesy-discount policy and clarification of miscellaneous adjustments upon request.
