Committee approves hanger lease transfer and airport management contract after public briefing

After the master-plan presentation and public comment, the committee turned to airport business and routine county reports and recorded two formal approvals.
First, the committee approved an amendment to an existing hangar ground lease (to record a lapsed renewal and a 10-year option) and passed a resolution waiving Sawyer County’s right of first refusal so an existing hanger lease may be transferred from Ron Courth Halls to James Robert Fox. Committee members voted in favor by voice; the documents will be placed on the County Board agenda for final ratification and recordation.
Contracted airport manager Derrick Leslie told the committee there has been high interest in hangars at the field: "there was more than 15 people that expressed desire purchasing the hanger," he said, and the county’s review found the buyer (James Robert Fox) is registered as an aircraft owner. Committee members approved the lease amendment and the waiver of first refusal and agreed to send the approvals to the County Board for final action.
Later the committee moved to closed session to negotiate an airport-management contract under Wisconsin law, returned to open session and approved a five-year amendment and reinstatement of the airport management agreement with compensation "as presented." The committee recorded motions, seconds and a voice vote; the signed contract will be finalized and placed on county records.
The meeting continued with maintenance and highway reports and was then adjourned.
