On the floating dock, the applicant requested a variance from lakeshore design standards because the nearshore depth is only about 6 inches at the property, making boat access to a standard 50-foot dock impractical. Staff noted neighboring properties have similarly long docks and argued that extending the dock to 75 feet would reduce lake-bottom disturbance from boat operation. The board approved the variance and imposed standard monitoring and completion-photo requirements to ensure the project conforms to the permit conditions.
