Cameron County commissioners approve Act 13 allocations, award recreation center renovation contract

The board approved a $4,500 Act 13 request to the county Office of Community and Economic Development to complete branding and marketing for the Wild Elk Gravel Mapping project, work intended to meet a March deadline for the Philadelphia Bike Expo. County staff said the mapping and trails work was completed with earlier grant and ARPA‑matching funds; Pennsylvania Great Outdoors has agreed to handle printing at no cost.
On a separate motion, commissioners accepted Cliff Clark’s recommendation and awarded the Cameron County Recreation Center renovation contract to Moyer Building and Remodeling and accepted a letter of proposed funds in the amount of $300,000. Clark told the board the original Moyer bid was about $506,000; change orders and substitution of less costly materials brought the contract within the available grant amount. "If we don't move forward on this project, we are running against a brick wall of a timeline on spending these grant dollars," a commissioner said during discussion.
Bids for a separate security‑entrance project were opened at the meeting, with a combined bid from JC Orange Sun, Inc. and a general bid read into the record; commissioners voted to table action on the security entrance bids and to schedule a follow‑up review with the project manager, engineers and the safety committee.
