CUSD 300 board unanimously approves ISBE calendar waiver and district audit contract

The Community Unit School District 300 Board of Education on April 21 approved two roll-call items by unanimous 6-0 votes: an ISBE calendar waiver application and the district audit contract.
Alberto Mora, assistant superintendent of human resources, explained the ISBE calendar waiver would allow the district to combine four half days of professional development into two full in-service days. Mora said the waiver is a required five-year filing; if ISBE approves it, the waiver would apply starting with the 2026–27 school year and would remain valid for five years.
"Instead of having four half days of professional development, we're able to combine them into two full days," Mora said, adding the district follows ISBE rules for notification and public participation. The board opened a public hearing on the waiver earlier in the meeting and later approved the waiver by roll call.
The board also approved the district's audit contract by roll call. Both roll-call motions passed 6-0.
The approvals were taken during the board's regular meeting; no substantive amendments to either item were recorded in the public transcript.
