The Strafford County commissioners met on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026. The chair called the meeting to order, offered New Year’s greetings and opened the agenda.
The board approved minutes from Dec. 11, 17 and 18 after a motion and a second; the chair recorded the vote as unanimous. Commissioner Levit was recorded in the proceeding as voting in favor; the chair noted Commissioner Res was running a few minutes late but indicated support for the second item on the agenda.
The commissioners moved to appoint Janet Hilber as deputy treasurer. The motion was seconded and the chair said the vote was assumed to be unanimous.
The chair announced a scheduling change: the special committee on long-term care that had been set for Jan. 9 was rescheduled to Jan. 16.
When asked if there was any new business, Mr. Bower replied there was none. The chair then invited public comment related to the agenda; no members of the public spoke.
The chair made a motion to enter a non-public session for the purposes of discussing labor negotiations, labor relations and contract negotiation. A roll call was taken and recorded as unanimous; the commission retired to the non-public session.
The meeting transitioned to non-public session with brief closing courtesies.
