Dolores County commissioners appoint Nolan Henkins to public library board; approve routine agenda items

The Dolores County Board of County Commissioners on March 16 appointed Nolan Henkins to the Dolores County Public Library Board to fill the vacancy left by the death of longtime member Caroline McCustin.
Commissioner Element moved to appoint Henkins, citing the library board's recommendation; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously. The board recorded a three-member affirmative vote.
The appointment followed a letter introduced at the meeting from Mara Allen, the bookkeeper for the Dolores County Public Library Board, saying the library board interviewed Henkins and voted to accept him. "He's enthusiastic and will bring some perspective and ideas from the younger generation in our community," the letter said.
The commission also handled routine business. Members moved to adopt the agenda with one deletion: the item authorizing Southwest Health Systems to operate an ambulance was removed from new business so staff and the ambulance district can provide additional information. The board approved the day's expenditures and accepted minutes from the March 2 regular meeting and the March 10 expenditure meeting after noting a correction related to an EMPG grant.
The regular meeting was adjourned and the commissioners planned to reconvene at 9:30 a.m. as the Dolores County Board of Health.
