Harrison County proclaims Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and Farm City Week

At the March 12 meeting Patty Brady of Community Health Corps read a proclamation asking the court to declare March 2026 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in Harrison County, noting an estimated 600,000 Texans with developmental disabilities and urging inclusion in classrooms, workplaces and communities. Brady introduced Gwindelyn (Glendolan) Johnson, identified as the crisis lead for intellectual and developmental disability services, and thanked the court for its support.
The court also received a proclamation designating March 23–26 as Farm City Week. Staff outlined event counts for livestock and contest categories, described a revised schedule (moving scholarship presentations to the big night on March 26) and noted a Farm City Week Youth Council of about 50 members who assist with the event.
Both proclamations were presented as ceremonial recognitions; commissioners thanked presenters and posed for photographs.
