Harrison County moves to TAC Sierra for web hosting to meet ADA deadline; approves IT stipend for sheriff support

The Harrison County Commissioners Court on Feb. 12 approved an agreement with the Texas Association of Counties' Sierra web-hosting service to migrate the county website and implement accessibility features ahead of an April 24, 2026 compliance deadline.
IT representative Mr. Niner told commissioners the county has identified about 45 pages to retain and plans to consolidate other pages to control migration costs; he said Sierra offers tools for alternative-text tags, voice-activated documents and accessible PDF handling. Commissioners discussed budget impacts and approved proceeding; Mr. Niner said he believed the county could cover the lower migration tier if the content is reduced to 50 pages or fewer.
Separately, the court approved a compensation adjustment of $6,000 for an IT technician (Dustin) to be assigned—on a nonpermanent basis—to support the sheriff's office's equipment, radios and in-vehicle computers. Commissioners said the stipend would be funded from the sheriff's budget and described the arrangement as a cross-training and support solution.
Both motions passed by unanimous voice vote.
