Students honored; Toms River Education Foundation gives $7,500 to unified sports program

Student representatives from Toms River High School North and South highlighted recent awards, athletic records and community service work, and the board recognized multiple teams and individual student achievements.

At High School North, Michaela Milanac highlighted athletics and academic recognitions including swimmer Aryan Nagaria breaking the 100-yard fly school record. At High School South, Michaela Manzy recapped band and choir concerts, club activities and multiple athletic accomplishments. "As always, stay happy, stay healthy, and stay safe," Milanac said in closing of her remarks.

The board also showcased a short video and formally thanked the Toms River Educational Foundation after the foundation’s downtown fundraiser provided $7,500 to support the district’s unified sports program. A program representative thanked the foundation and local businesses for the donation, saying the gift will sustain unified flag football and unified kickball and allow potential participation in unified basketball. "Your support truly highlights the strength and compassion of our town," the unified sports representative said.

Officials and coaches including the district publicity coordinator Dave Carell and coaches for cross country and volleyball joined students onstage for recognition. The meeting’s recognitions emphasized inclusive programming and recent championship and record-setting athletic performances across the district. The student portion of the meeting concluded and the board moved on to business items.
