The Toms River Regional School District board on Monday approved the 2026–27 pupil calendar, multiple personnel and program items and second readings of district policies, and adopted a resolution recognizing board members during New Jersey’s Board of Education Appreciation Month.
The board voted to adopt the pupil calendar on a motion by board member Jubert, seconded by Lamb. All named members recorded affirmative roll-call votes; board member Egan asked that the posted calendar include language clarifying the board’s authority to adjust dates after excessive inclement-weather days. “I hope that … we could add something to the bottom … to say if there’s any snow days where they’ll be adjusted,” Egan said during the discussion. District staff replied they will add a disclaimer when posting the final calendar.
In a separate vote, the board approved the second reading and adoption of the listed policies, regulations and bylaws after tabling Policy P2422. The motion to adopt the policies was moved by Egan and seconded by Contessa. A consent-style motion to approve grouped agenda items 14–19 passed on a roll call; Jubert noted an intention to abstain on any future matters specifically pertaining to South River when applicable.
The board also approved the board secretary’s report for November 2025 and certified multiple personnel agenda items, including addendum items, after motions by Kidney and Contessa. Several routine program agenda items were approved with one item tabled. Board members publicly thanked longtime employees who are retiring, including a human-resources staff member who will retire at the end of the summer.
