Court accepts Newton–Jasper adult sexual-assault response team report and will transmit to state

A county presenter reviewed the Newton–Jasper regional adult sexual-assault response team (SART), explaining the statutory requirement for counties to form a team to coordinate adult sexual-assault investigations, victim services and prosecution. The presenter described team membership (prosecutors, law enforcement, a nurse examiner, and other partners), the requirement to report membership and data to the state every two years, and the team’s recent training activities.
The presenter noted this regional SART is focused on adult victims (not child victims) and said the team alternates leadership with Jasper County. The court accepted the report and the presenter said staff will transmit the required report to the state before the Dec. 1 deadline.
Next steps: the presenter will provide copies of the report to any commissioner who requests one and will upload the regional SART report to the state as required.
