Student representatives highlight start of 2024–25 school year and activities across Toms River schools

At the start of the meeting student representatives from the district's three high schools offered monthly reports highlighting a busy opening to the 2024–25 school year.
Ryan Makum, introduced as student body president of Toms River High School East, said, "My name is Ryan Makum and I'm extremely honored and excited to be the student body president of High School East for this school year," and summarized athletics wins, club participation and a National Merit semifinalist from the district. Gabriella Cova spoke as the student representative from Toms River High School North, describing a new positive-behavior medallion program and successful freshman orientation. Sophia, the High School South representative, reviewed South’s freshman activities, club participation and announced details for the homecoming dance on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The remarks were ceremonial and aimed at sharing student accomplishments with the board and community; the board thanked the student representatives before proceeding with business.
