Staff reported that MACo Healthcare Trust rates increased approximately 5% this year and described the county’s existing contribution and plan options. The board approved adding a $5,000 high-deductible health plan as a fifth option and separately approved increasing the county’s monthly contribution from $1,025 to $1,075 per employee. Board members said they would review plan uptake next year and consider adjustments if enrollment shifts among plans.
Members also discussed administrative steps for adding the plan: the eligibility form needs the top four boxes in the $5,000 plan column checked; medical and vision selections remain the same and dental and vision coverages are unchanged. Staff said it was simplest to email the completed forms to the plan administrator.
Both motions were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
