The Daniels County Board of Commissioners voted to accept an $85,000 bid for a used ambulance from Balcer Ambulance Sales Corp., doing business as Sawtooth Emergency Vehicles.
County officials opened the single bid and discussed the vehicle's condition and provenance; one commissioner who previously dealt with the seller recommended acceptance, noting the ambulance had been inspected and the seller was experienced in refurbishing vehicles.
"I think it's a bid that should probably be accepted," a commissioner said, adding that the county had limited other offers and the bid was near the board's target price.
A motion to accept the bid passed with no opposition. Commissioners directed staff to notify the bidder, arrange title signing and remove the vehicle from county insurance once the sale is completed.
The board discussed minor mechanical issues (for example, intermittent backup-camera problems) and agreed staff should ensure the buyer obtains the title and arranges pickup. The county will record mileage and complete the paperwork at transfer.
