The planning-board secretary presented a rezoning application to reclassify roughly 100 acres (including the existing county landfill) from agricultural to light industrial. Richard Carriers joined the presentation and walked commissioners through the parcel map and legal description (sections 22 and 23), explaining the change and why light industrial was the appropriate category for proposed uses.
The planning board will publish the required two-week notice and place the item on a commissioners' hearing agenda; commissioners were asked to sign the planning-board paperwork and to schedule the formal hearing required for rezoning. The presenter noted that cadastral mapping has not yet been updated and that one page of the county form (the second page) is for commissioners' later sign-off after the public-notice process.
Commissioners moved to accept the planning board's application and advance it for hearing; the motion carried without opposition. Staff will proceed with notice publication and set the hearing date.
