Sheriff asks board to authorize Motorola site walk and to sign firewall access letter for dispatch systems

The Daniels County sheriff asked commissioners Aug. 5 to authorize a Motorola site walkthrough and to provide a signed letter naming county personnel authorized in the state's security group so dispatch systems can be connected.
"Motorola ... their project team is coming up to walk through our office on the 28th of August," the sheriff said, requesting a conference-room site walk and noting a preference for a less-crowded room for a PowerPoint presentation. The sheriff said the county's CAD system is not reliably receiving information from the state's system, which delays routine traffic-stop processing and adds manual steps for dispatchers.
To resolve access issues the sheriff requested that commissioners sign a letter on county letterhead listing the officials to be included in the state's security group; the list ensures the county's CAD and statewide services communicate correctly. The sheriff also provided technical details that will be needed by the state's IT staff (IP source/destination) and said staff would email the specifics to county administration for signatures.
Commissioners agreed the issue should be addressed and directed staff to prepare the letter so the sheriff can move forward with Motorola and state contacts before the scheduled site walkthrough.
