State representative urges early bill filing and raises concerns about entitlement formula

The representative told commissioners she can file draft bills now and that earlier filing helps placement in the legislative calendar: "the sooner you get them in the higher on the agenda you are for the year," she said. She encouraged the county to propose topics and said three draft bills could be submitted and later adjusted if needed.
On funding, she raised concerns about the state's entitlement formula, saying it has disadvantaged Daniels County compared with other counties that gain larger payments for roads and population measures. She urged commissioners to raise awareness of the county's status and to consider coordinated legislative options.
The representative said she would continue outreach to county leaders and asked that local officials submit legislative ideas promptly so staff can research prior attempts and possible changes.
