Lincoln County commissioners approve routine minutes, adopt annual housekeeping resolutions and elect presiding officer

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners met on Jan. 7 in Libby and carried a slate of routine administrative actions, including approving minutes from several December 2025 sessions, adopting annual housekeeping resolutions and electing a presiding officer for 2026.

The board approved minutes for regular and emergency sessions held Dec. 17, Dec. 19 (two emergency sessions), Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 that covered flood response, emergency bridge work and remediation contracts. Commissioners voiced no public objections during the approvals and voted to adopt each set of minutes.

By resolution 2026-01 the board set regular meeting days for 2026: weekly on Wednesdays at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Libby, with the third Wednesday each month scheduled at the Eureka Annex unless otherwise posted. During discussion the board opened nominations and nominated Brent Tesky as presiding officer; the nomination carried by voice vote.

Resolution 2026-02 designates official physical posting locations for public notice (southeast and northeast entrances of the Libby courthouse and the Eureka annex business office) and allows supplemental posting on the county's official website. Resolution 2026-03 establishes 2026 observed county holidays and sets mileage and per-diem meal reimbursement rates, noting the county uses an IRS-based mileage standard (0.725 per mile) and specific in-state and out-of-state meal rates.

Commissioners also approved a final claim payment of $87,134.16 to Advanced Roofing for the Lincoln County campus roof replacement at the Flathead Valley Community College site and discussed an optional $450-per-year roof maintenance contract to be considered later.

The meeting was recessed at intervals for public comment and later to take up public hearings and planning matters.
