Reported bids: Noble Excavating submitted a base bid reported as $190,000 but also indicated a proposed donation of $80,097.50; Thompson Contracting submitted a bid reported around $270,490; MBC Builders submitted a bid reported at $316,700. Staff said the $190,000 figure for Noble is the net with donation and the gross without the donation is approximately $270,975. County staff noted that accepting a donation tied to a bid may require legal review and recommended engineer and county legal review before awarding a contract.
Commissioners said they would have the engineer and legal counsel examine the bids and return with a recommendation for award, with the goal of returning for approval next week. The board temporarily recessed after opening the bids to continue other agenda items.
