Commissioners voted to sign a letter of support for the Eureka School District’s application for an infrastructure planning grant to address water and wastewater needs for a proposed K–8 school.
Killing Cook, who said she and her husband Jeremy Cook were hired by the district to pursue grants, told the board that the current school buildings face “water and waste infrastructure” problems and that planning funds are needed to proceed with construction of a new K–8 facility. "We just need to show as much support as we possibly can from the community and definitely from our commissioners," she said, and noted the application deadline is in August.
A commissioner moved and the board seconded approval of the letter; the board agreed to sign the letter and the chair said he would sign and pass it along. No public opposition was recorded.
The board directed staff to finalize and file the letter so the district can meet the grant deadline.
