Montgomery County Fiscal Court adopts routine appointments, approves appliance transfer and hears annual department reports

At its Jan. 20 meeting, the Montgomery County Fiscal Court adopted a series of routine items and heard annual reports from county departments.
The court approved a resolution to transfer ownership of kitchen appliances to the Gateway Area Development District for continued use and maintenance of the Montgomery County Senior Center kitchen. It also appointed Randy Stton to the Reed Village Water District board to fill a vacancy (term expiring Jan. 1, 2027) and appointed Lucy Razer to fill a remainder term on the Montgomery County Library Board after multiple resignations.
Treasurer Amanda presented monthly financials, vouchers and transfers and asked the court to add a revenue and appropriation line item to track America 250 celebration funds; the court approved the treasurer's report and bills. Amanda also updated members on two remaining ARPA-funded projects (broadband and sanitation) with expected completion dates (broadband by late summer/early fall; sanitation by November) and warned that an FCC ruling will end certain jail-related funds in April 2026; staff will work to spend remaining funds appropriately before deadlines.
Department heads gave annual summaries: the fire department reported 1,596 responses in 2025 and outlined planned equipment purchases, the sheriff reported 14,531 calls for service and grant awards including funding for body armor and participation in the 287(g) program, and the animal shelter reported intake and outcome statistics and partnerships that supported a 96.6% live outcome rate in 2025.
