Several trustees said they wanted the absent member to have the opportunity to vote on the contract extension because it's a significant personnel matter. The board's action also paused any further public discussion of the amendment pending the continued meeting.
The tabling follows a special meeting earlier in which trustees completed an internal evaluation process; counsel advised that detailed evaluation content should remain confidential but that the board may confirm compliance with the contract's procedural requirements when the item returns to open session.
