Professional services: The board approved contracting with a consultant (DLR Group) to lead the facilities master plan, which will include community engagement, project prioritization and long‑term sustainability analysis. Staff said the firm will return in December to describe public-engagement timelines and planning tools.
Facility fees: Staff also presented an updated facility fee schedule with a multi‑year phased increase and newly itemized pool rates. Officials clarified that existing rental agreements with partner pools (the Algaorte YMCA and others) will be maintained for certain school teams while Tory Pines’ new pool is brought online.
EV bus charging: District staff reported delivery of the first four electric buses and said slow chargers on the lot would not support daily turnarounds. With SDG&E’s permanent chargers estimated to be 12–18 months away, the board authorized a piggyback purchase for a mobile charging trailer with six chargers so the district can operate additional EV buses as they arrive. Staff said some grants and incentives have covered a large share of bus acquisition costs and that resale of the trailer could recoup value when permanent infrastructure is online.
What’s next: The master‑planning vendor will present a timeline and community outreach plan; staff will return with final fee schedules to adopt by December for implementation in January 2026 and will proceed to procure the mobile charging trailer to expand bus operations ahead of permanent infrastructure.
