Board of Aldermen approves appointments, accepts financial reports and extends mayor's budget deadline to March 10, 2026

The Board of Aldermen accepted the finance committee reports and monthly financial reports, approved refund payments totaling $3,170.04, and referred claim #1085 to corporation counsel.

Members also approved a slate of mayoral appointments across boards and commissions — including a parks and recreation reappointment, retirement board and treasurer confirmations — on voice votes with minimal discussion.

Under new business the board considered an extension of the mayor's budget submission deadline. After discussion a member proposed and the board approved an amendment setting the deadline to March 10, 2026. The amendment was seconded and passed by voice vote; the extension was treated as approved and will govern the timetable for the mayor's formal budget presentation and the consultant briefing scheduled for Feb. 17.

Other routine motions — including motions to accept prior minutes and to refer the insurance claim to counsel — were carried on voice votes. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript for these items; outcomes were announced by the chair as passed.

The board did not adopt additional budgetary appropriations at the meeting; members and the mayor's staff said a consultant presentation next week will detail prior expenditures and the current fiscal position before line‑by‑line budget deliberations begin.
