Public objections prompt Hall County commissioners to table appointment to stakeholder advisory committee

Penny Ganyard told the board she was concerned that “Mister Braswell” had been placed on the stakeholder panel despite having been removed from a planning commission in the past and said the appointment had caused the county legal costs and turmoil. Jody White echoed those concerns and said the decision disrespected citizens who had spoken against the appointment previously.
Following public comment and subsequent discussion among commissioners, a motion was made to table the appointment until the board’s next voting meeting on June 25. “Make a motion to table this until 2nd meeting in June,” a commissioner said; the motion carried on a voice vote.
No recorded defense of the appointment appeared in the public-comment segment; commissioners later noted the appointment had been moved off the consent agenda and then tabled for further consideration. The motion to table means the nominee will not be appointed at this meeting and will return to the board for reconsideration June 25.
