Public comment at the May 26 Hall County work session included two items that raised questions about transparency and appointments.
Jody White, who gave her Hall County address to the record, said citizens were told a staff departure was a resignation but later learned it was recorded as a "resignation in lieu of termination." White asked who voted to terminate, said she had an email from a county official praising the departed staffer, and asserted the county would pay roughly $300,000 plus a year of health insurance to that person. "We citizens have the right to know who had the discussion and who had the vote," White said, asking the board to provide clarity on the personnel matter.
Mark Redmond, a resident who also identified himself from Timor Cove, said he had filed an open‑records request about interim planning commission appointments (Susan King and Bradley Dunkel) and said he expected a fee of about $402.82 to obtain the records; he asked commissioners to explain why those appointments were made. A staff member offered to email Redmond a resume (with permission) and to follow up.
No formal action or vote on personnel matters was recorded in the work session; the board moved later to go into executive session where personnel issues were on the stated agenda. Staff committed to follow up on public‑records and resume requests.
