Commissioners also said Parks and Recreation staff had raised concerns about field conditions for the proposed event locations and that Norfolk Southern permission for work under the tracks was not yet secured. In light of those constraints the commission moved to stop the FIFA installation and ask staff to explore alternatives.
The motion to not move forward with the Dashboard FIFA project was made and seconded and the chair announced the motion carried. Staff said they will meet with Dashboard to discuss whether a refund, partial refund or credit toward a future project is possible; the commission did not authorize automatic reallocation of those funds without further information.
