The Lawrenceville City Council on May 27 unanimously approved a rezoning request to allow Friendship Forest Academy to operate at 521 Scenic Highway.
Todd Hargrave, Planning and Development Director, presented rezoning application RZC2026-0002 and buffer reduction request BFR2026-0004 and introduced Jennifer Hickey, who was identified as Director of Operations and founder of Friendship Forest Academy, Inc. The council voted to rezone the property from ON (Office Neighborhood) to OI (Office Institutional) and to reduce the required buffer between dissimilar zoning classifications from 50 feet to zero.
Council Member Victoria Jones moved approval; Council Member Randy Travis seconded. The motion passed with all members voting yea: Mayor David R. Still, Mayor Pro-Tem Bruce Johnson, Council Member Victoria Jones, Council Member Randy Travis and Council Member Bryant Harris.
