Resident-led request to study 'Rainbow Bridge' pet memorial at dog park added to future agenda

A North Port resident asked the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board to place a proposal to create a community 'Rainbow Bridge' pet memorial at the canine club dog park on a future agenda, and the board approved adding the item for discussion.
"I'm Eric Teleska of 2033 Alliance Avenue, Northport, respectfully requesting the Rainbow Bridge project be placed on a future agenda for board discussion," Eric Teleska said during the public-comment portion. He said the proposed memorial would provide a single location for owners to leave collars, harnesses and other remembrance items and could boost park use and social interaction.
After public comment, a board member moved to add implementation options for a Rainbow Bridge at the canine club to a future agenda; the motion was seconded and the board voted aye. The director offered to prepare a proposal with options and costs for the board’s review before the item reaches the commission.
Next steps: staff will prepare options and a presentation for a future advisory-board meeting; any formal design, siting or funding decisions would require subsequent board recommendations and commission approval.
