Miss Matthews, the city manager, presented the ambulance financing terms to the council, saying, “So tonight, we are presenting and asking for approval for the council to approve the financing of the 2nd ambulance.” She described the proposed loan as a five-year, tax-exempt financing at 5.83% with 20 quarterly payments listed in the packet at approximately $24,007.97 per payment. A staff member noted the city acquired three ambulances since 2022 with federal grant support and said the 2022 vehicle will remain as a reserve once the new vehicle arrives. The council moved, seconded and approved the financing by voice vote.
On the street sweeper, Miss Matthews said the city’s existing machine had been out of operation for roughly eight months and that financing would preserve cash flow. She presented similar loan terms—five years at a 5.83% tax-exempt rate—with 20 quarterly payments listed at $14,977.64. Matthews said using an available state bid saved about $30,000 compared with other quotes. Council approved the financing by voice vote.
The council also reviewed two special one-day alcohol permits for July events, including a July 11 surprise party and a July 18 40th birthday celebration. The applicant described each event and the council approved both permits individually by voice vote.
In routine business, the council held the second reading and adopted Resolution 2026R-12 (annual city fee schedule for FY2027) and held the first reading of Resolution 2026R-14 (the FY2027 budget), scheduling the public hearing on the budget for the council meeting on June 18. The council also adopted Resolution 2026R-13 to declare two parcels on Market Street surplus and authorize private sale following a brief public hearing.
The meeting closed after brief council remarks and an adjournment motion passed by voice vote.
What happens next: The public hearing on the FY2027 budget is scheduled for the June 18 council meeting; financing documents and payment schedules for the ambulance and street sweeper will proceed under the terms presented to the council.
