The Haverford Township Zoning Hearing Board approved June 4 the application from Kevin Barry to replace a front porch at 717 East Harbour Road in the R‑6 district, allowing the porch to be rebuilt in its prior footprint (about a 13‑foot front‑yard setback where 20 feet is required).
Barry told the board he removed the old porch to run water, gas and other utilities and he intends to replace the porch "like for like," keeping the same footprint and foundation while modernizing materials. He said the porch will not be enclosed and that only an outlet and lighting (electric) are being installed.
The board confirmed three exhibits (deed, site plan and photographs) were marked and admitted into the record. Barry offered photos showing neighboring porches with similar footprints and agreed to a condition barring future enclosure. Jessica Vitale moved to approve the application with conditions that the porch not be enclosed, that only electric service be installed on the porch, and that the project be completed within one year in accordance with the testimony. The motion carried with board concurrence.
The board closed the record on the case; the exhibits and the decision constitute the official record of conditions and approvals.
