Fox Point board approves MOU naming Fox Point Lutheran Church as sole polling place, subject to attorney review

The Fox Point Village Board voted unanimously on Feb. 10 to approve a memorandum of understanding designating Fox Point Lutheran Church as the village’s sole polling location for all elections, with the approval conditioned on final review and any revisions by the village attorney and formal sign-off by the church.

President Semcich moved the board to approve the MOU and asked the village attorney to complete a final review; a second was recorded and the motion carried on a roll-call vote with all trustees voting aye. Board members discussed whether to delay action to incorporate edits — in particular, an explicit village termination clause — but agreed staff could finalize language and have the church initial changes so the April election timeline would not be jeopardized.

Acting Village Manager noted the MOU “memorialize[s] the agreement and the conditions within which the village and the Fox Point Lutheran Church will be working together to maintain the polling location,” and the board discussed procedures if the church declined after the board’s approval. The village attorney said prior comments had been addressed except that the termination provision needed additional language and offered to complete a final review.

No members of the public spoke on the item. President Semcich said staff would authorize the agreement to proceed pending the attorney’s revisions and the church’s approval.

The board’s action directs staff to finalize and execute the MOU after the village attorney’s review and any necessary church approvals; the board did not set a separate special meeting to revisit the item.
