Thompson selectmen approve appointments, road closures and read a resignation

At their April 7 meeting, the Thompson Board of Selectmen approved several routine governance actions: the appointment of Linda Charlton to the library board of trustees, the appointment of Lynn Davis to the conservation commission, and the addition and appointment of Jeffrey Berline to a zoning board of appeals alternate seat.
Donahue introduced Linda Charlton for appointment following the recent passing of Bob Lechants; Charlton thanked the board. Donahue instructed Charlton to sign paperwork at the clerks office to formalize the appointment. "Ive always felt that public libraries are so important to the communities that they serve, and, Im grateful to have the opportunity," Charlton said after being nominated.
Larry Consiglio moved to appoint Lynn Davis to fill an open conservation commission seat; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board also unanimously voted to add the zoning-board appointment to the agenda and then appointed Jeffrey Berline to the zoning board of appeals alternate seat, following a recommendation from the Thompson RTC.
Donahue read a resignation from Kais Kaiswa resigning an alternate seat on the planning and zoning commission and noted that Kaiswa had accepted a full seat on that commission.
In other business, the board approved a request from recreation to close Main Street (from Riordan Road to Route 12) and Reardon Road for the America 250 Red Coat Retreat 5K on Saturday, April 25, 2026, with Thompson Emergency Management and constables providing traffic control. "I will make that motion to approve the closures," 2nd Selectman Larry Consiglio said; the board voted aye to approve.
What happens next: appointees were instructed to sign official paperwork at town hall or the clerks office to complete appointments; the town will coordinate traffic and safety support for the April 25 event.
