At its March 3 meeting, the White Cloud City Council received but did not approve a set of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the White Cloud Police Department. Chief Jon Patterson presented the SOPs and said they were reviewed by an attorney and mirror the SOPs used in the City of Grant; council members asked for further review and postponed formal approval until the Personnel Committee reviews the policies.
Council also addressed interim operational appointments. With Councilmember Candice Dault resigning from the Sherman Utilities Sewer Board, Herm Becker volunteered to serve as an alternate in the interim; Mayor Brian Miller moved and Lori Shears seconded the appointment, which passed unanimously.
The council considered a special-event application from Mike McDowell's nonprofit to host an Easter egg hunt at Rotary Park on April 4 from noon to 4 p.m. Council voted to approve the event application and to waive both the park reservation fee and the event application fee on a motion by Damon Anuci, seconded by Candice Dault. The motion passed with all members voting in favor.
Mayor Miller also presented two proclamations recognizing the service of Candice and Richard Dault, and Councilmember Lori Shears asked that the council consider recognitions for volunteers of the Russ Gilbert Kids Free Fishing event at the council's April meeting. City Manager April Storms elected to receive her annual performance review in open session; she summarized recent professional development and listed goals for the coming year, including Redevelopment Ready Community certification, completion of Smith Park work and water infrastructure projects.
