White Cloud council unanimously approves December expenditures, multiple appointments and budget amendment

On appointments, the council confirmed multiple reappointments and new members across city boards: Lori Shears and Rich Dault to three-year terms on the Planning Commission; Brian Miller to a five-year term on the Cemetery Board; Marva Shears and Jamie Steffes to three-year terms on the Zoning Board of Appeals; Rich Dault to a four-year term on the Marihuana License Board; and Rich Dault and Marva Shears to two-year terms on the Tax Board of Review. Mitch Graves was appointed as an alternate to the Zoning Board of Appeals. All appointment motions passed unanimously.
Council approved an updated Newaygo County early voting agreement that, according to the meeting materials, splits billing for early-voting site costs evenly among participating jurisdictions and adds three townships to the agreement.
The council received the White Cloud Area Fire Department FY2026-2027 budget appropriations as presented; the receipt of the appropriations was approved by roll-call vote. Council members acknowledged routine correspondence including police and DPW reports, city manager/treasurer reports and a verbal update from the River Country Chamber.
