County staff propose routine IT purchases and renew emergency broadcast subscription

"The battery maintenance for both locations combined is $5,640," the staff member said, and staff estimated replacement at the Piper Building at $4,980. The presenter said both figures are modestly higher than prior cycles.
On software, staff said the county reduced Horizon remote-desktop licenses from 40 to 10, trimming roughly $4,592 from prior costs and lowering the subscription to $1,407 for the year. The county also maintains an InformaCast subscription for desktop emergency broadcasts; staff reported the annual fee this year is $2,640, about 3% higher than last year. A commissioner asked when the county last used the desktop alert system; staff said they tested it a couple of weeks earlier and said the system is functional if users know the correct extensions.
