Clinton County designates May 17–23 as EMS Week and recognizes local EMS personnel

The Clinton County Board of Commissioners adopted a proclamation designating May 17–23, 2026, as Emergency Medical Services Week in the county.
Commissioner Gordon read the proclamation, which thanked career and volunteer EMS professionals and urged residents to acknowledge their service. The proclamation was adopted by voice vote.
County leaders invited local EMS personnel and Department of Emergency Services staff forward to receive the proclamation; attendees named by the commissioners included Beth Witte (Planning Department), Ben Landrum (Lockheed EMS), Darren King (Lockheed EMS), Delmar Blackwell, Chris Rupert, Lloyd Rhodes (Department of Emergency Services) and Kathy Grimes.
A regional EMS representative who spoke acknowledged the distinction between regional councils and local frontline crews: "We're not the boots on the ground. These people in your county are," the representative said, directing praise to local responders. An attendee with more than 30 years of service thanked the board and said the county has "a great team in Clinton County." The board did not take separate action on staffing or funding during the presentation.
The commissioners recessed the item after the presentations; no immediate policy changes or budgetary allocations were announced as part of the proclamation item.
