Veterans affairs director Todd Warner to leave Clinton County; board accepts resignation

The Clinton County Board of Commissioners on June 4 accepted the resignation of Veterans Affairs Director Todd Warner, effective June 26, 2026.

Warner addressed the board at the meeting and thanked county colleagues and support staff for their work, saying the office had helped bring “over $13,000,000 a year” in benefits to resident veterans. "That number is only increasing," Warner said, and he praised the responsiveness of offices including the recorder and assessor in supporting veterans’ needs.

Warner also discussed the prevalence of service-connected conditions among local veterans, stating that about 42% of resident veterans have a VA service-connected illness or injury rating. "That's a lot," Warner said, adding that many county veterans use VA health care.

Commissioners praised Warner’s four years of service and the programs he helped build. The board noted the Bucktown Medical Center project and other veteran-focused events Warner organized as part of his tenure. The board accepted his resignation "with regret," and commissioners encouraged Warner to remain engaged as a volunteer after leaving the post.

Warner did not announce a successor at the meeting. The resignation is effective June 26, 2026; the board did not set a timetable for filling the position during the public portion of the meeting.

The remarks and the board’s acceptance were part of a general personnel section of the June 4 agenda.
