John Staub, a member of the chapel board, said the chapel and memorial are adjacent and that the car show set for Sunday, Aug. 30, will include tours of the chapel and family activities. "Last year's show was the largest show in South Central Pennsylvania with 264 cars," Staub said, and organizers are capping this year's event at 300 vehicles because of space constraints.
Staub reported that, including county-employee contributions, last year's broader fundraising efforts raised nearly $8,400 for chapel preservation. He also said the chapel board is accepting bids for work on the atrium and bell-tower façade and is coordinating on water-line issues with York Water, indicating additional fundraising may be needed to cover repairs.
