Commissioners approve $2 million RACP grant for YMCA of Indiana County expansion

The Indiana County Commissioners on May 27 approved a $2,000,000 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to support facility expansion and improvements at the YMCA of Indiana County in White Township.
Byron Stauffer of the county Office of Planning & Development told the board the multi-phase project at the White Township facility includes roof replacement, new HVAC equipment, domestic hot water tanks and boilers and locker-room improvements. The county minutes say the RACP grant will be leveraged with $2,176,781 in local matching funds — including cash donations and a land match — for a total project cost of $4,176,781.
The board authorized Chairman R. Michael Keith to sign the grant agreement on behalf of the commissioners. The motion carried unanimously; no construction contract was awarded during the meeting.
