Indiana County commissioners voted May 13 to enter a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to formalize county participation in a Collective Impact Initiative aimed at addressing food insecurity and its root causes.
Planning Deputy Director Josh Krug requested the MOU, which the board approved unanimously. The agreement provides a $1,000 stipend to participating organizations; the participant organization may determine how to use the funds, and the Food Bank will disburse the stipend in two payments. The commissioners designated Krug as Indiana County’s representative on the working group.
The Collective Impact Initiative brings county staff and community partners together to coordinate services and pursue longer-term solutions to local hunger. The MOU does not appropriate county matching funds and specifies stipend payment logistics and the county representative.
The approval was unanimous and procedural; no additional funding commitments were made at the meeting.
