Josh Fulbright, section chief for Community Risk Reduction with the Office of the State Fire Marshal, congratulated the Lancaster Fire Department for receiving the 2024 Fire Safe South Carolina community designation — the department’s fifth consecutive designation.
"I wanna recognize the Lancaster Fire Department for not only receiving that designation for 2024, but congratulating this our 5th year," Fulbright said, crediting the department’s data-driven approach to prevention and outreach, including smoke-alarm installations and incident documentation.
Fulbright said the designation is increasingly difficult to obtain because it requires sustained staffing, data collection and community programs. He invited the department’s chief, deputy chief and fire marshal to accept the recognition on behalf of the department and praised local firefighters for their efforts.
The council received the presentation as a special recognition; no formal vote was required.
