Resident urges action over pickleball noise and sanitation near Rainier Trails Park

At the start of public comment on May 11, a resident who identified herself as Sharon told the Uniontown City Council the ongoing expansion and use of nearby pickleball courts has created a public nuisance and interfered with neighbors’ peace.

Sharon cited a local RCW for public nuisance and disturbance noise and described loud, repetitive impacts from play: "It does not matter if there were 0 courts... they make all kinds of proclamations... yet allow a game that has an eerily similar sound" to other traumatic noises, she said. She also alleged sanitation problems, saying players had urinated and defecated in a nearby tree "just inches from a neighbor's fence," and that a portable toilet had been delivered afterward.

When Sharon’s time expired the mayor allowed limited additional remarks and later provided a point of information: he said he had ordered a sanitary can to be delivered to Rainier Trails Park after viewing video presented by a resident and in response to complaints about public urination and exposure. "I ordered the sandy can be shipped there and placed at the park," the mayor said, and added that he acted as the executive branch without seeking budget authority.
