Council approves resolution designating primitive roads and refreshes signage

Colin, representing County Public Works, told the council the item has been under review for years and that staff revisited affected roads on Lopez and are prepared to move forward. He said the measure is a resolution, not a change in level-of-service, and described plans to publish a forward-facing web page with the designations and supplemental information.
Council discussion focused on outreach and messaging. One council member asked whether a press release was necessary; Public Works suggested targeted outreach given the small affected population. After brief comments from council members, a motion to approve the resolution was made and seconded. Council Chair put the question and announced, “Motion carries.”
The resolution as approved affirms the county’s maintenance-designation on the listed routes and directs staff to install or refresh signage and to publish explanatory material for residents and visitors. The designation may be revisited by the council in the future, per the staff presentation.
